Job Overview

Position Title: Mail Handler

Department: Production

Reporting To: Department Manager

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 4:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.

Compensation: Annual salary ranges from $27,040 to $28,040 based on experience

Shift Differentials:

  • 2nd Shift: Additional $1.00 per hour
  • 3rd Shift: Additional $2.00 per hour

Benefits: Eligibility begins after two full months of employment

Salary offers are determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications, with adjustments made accordingly.

Position Summary

The Mail Handler plays a crucial role in the efficient management of incoming and outgoing mail within the organization. This position is vital for ensuring that all mail items are sorted and delivered accurately and promptly, thereby supporting the overall operational workflow.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties include, but are not limited to:

Mail Sorting and Distribution
  • Sort incoming mail according to department or recipient.
  • Distribute mail to designated areas.
  • Ensure timely and precise processing of all mail items.
Mail Processing
  • Prepare outgoing mail for dispatch, including weighing, labeling, and applying postage.
  • Operate mail processing machinery.
  • Manage bulk mailings and specialized mail services as needed.
Record Keeping and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate logs of incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Track registered, certified, and express mail.
  • Generate reports on mailroom activities as requested.
Customer Service
  • Assist staff with inquiries related to mail services.
  • Resolve issues concerning mail delivery and processing.
  • Provide exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Mailroom Maintenance
  • Ensure the mailroom is clean, organized, and secure.
  • Monitor and manage mailroom supplies, ordering as necessary.
  • Maintain mailroom equipment and report malfunctions.
Compliance and Security
  • Follow company policies regarding mail handling and confidentiality.
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols to protect sensitive information.
  • Assist in implementing mailroom security measures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a mailroom or similar setting is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate standard mailroom equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with data entry.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed.
Work Environment

This position requires physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks in a warehouse or production facility. Employees may encounter varying temperatures, noise, and dust. The role involves lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing 300 pounds on a load-bearing cart, and performing repetitive motions.
