POSITION TITLE: Infrastructure Systems Specialist

ROLE SUMMARY: The Infrastructure Systems Specialist will oversee the operations and maintenance of a dedicated infrastructure comprising Linux servers, workstations, network-attached storage, and networking devices. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set and demonstrate the ability to adapt and learn new technologies for ongoing improvement and evaluation of system optimization opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and administer Linux servers and workstations, ensuring timely updates and system health.
  • Oversee network appliances and devices to maintain existing data flows and connections.
  • Address service desk applications and respond to user inquiries effectively.
  • Collaborate within an integrated product team that includes multiple vendors.
  • Manage a multi-rack infrastructure with distributed points of presence.
  • Assess system performance and provide recommendations for enhancements.
  • Support the program team with configuration management and logistics concerning the information system architecture.
  • Assist in planning and executing phased hardware upgrades to extend service and support for the system and network.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Security Clearance:
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and updating RedHat/Rocky Linux distributions on servers and workstations.
  • Familiarity with networking principles, basic routing, and monitoring of network devices.
  • Capability to perform data transfer operations between isolated systems and networks.
  • Understanding of information security principles and best practices to protect information systems.
  • Knowledge of Ceph storage cluster administration (or willingness to learn within a short timeframe).
  • Comprehension of scalable infrastructure and applications to support a variety of use cases and data processing needs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities for addressing service desk tickets and requests.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to grasp the broader context.
  • Growth-oriented attitude and capability for interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position may require occasional travel to support maintenance and updates at various locations.
