Position Title: Intern for Educational Initiatives

Reports To: Director of Education

Employment Type: Part-Time Seasonal, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Work Status: On-site (Availability required for a minimum of three days a week)

About Grace Farms Foundation:

Grace Farms Foundation serves as a hub for cultural engagement and collaboration in New Canaan, Connecticut. Our mission is to unite individuals from various sectors to delve into themes of nature, arts, justice, community, and spirituality within the architecturally significant River building, set amidst 80 acres of serene landscapes. Our commitment to humanitarian efforts includes initiatives aimed at eradicating modern slavery and promoting peace and grace in both local and global contexts, highlighted by our leadership in the Design for Freedom movement to eliminate forced labor in the construction materials supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Education Team with various public programs, including Pop-Up Engagements, Imagination Playground, Bunny Book Group, and Open Arts Studio.
  • Support the preparation and breakdown of daily programming, ensuring timely commencement and conclusion of each event, while effectively communicating any necessary schedule adjustments to the supervising staff.
  • Collaborate with the Events & Visitor Experience Team to enhance guest experiences at both public and private events, which may include greeting attendees, managing registration, guiding visitors, and providing essential information to ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Provide support to GFF Educators during School Group Programs.
  • Observe and gather data to assist in the ongoing evaluation of educational programs.
  • Contribute to the research and development of new public programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A strong interest in Education, English/Communication, Performing Arts, Nature, Science, History, or a related field. Progress towards a B.A. or B.S. in one of these disciplines is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in teaching or guiding individuals of various ages in formal or informal settings is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences, including children and adults.
  • A passion for continuous learning and the initiative to seek out information across a broad range of topics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, maintaining a positive attitude even in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in utilizing computers, electronic communication tools, and other relevant technologies.
  • Dependability and punctuality are essential.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend commitments may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, see, read, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or move up to 25 pounds.

Compensation: $18/hour or academic credit
