Supervises: Shelter Staff (including Shelter Senior Lead Supervisor, Shelter Leads, Monitors, Security, Case Manager, and Shelter Cook)
The Emergency Shelter Operations Manager will oversee one of the largest programs at Society St. Vincent De Paul Alameda, dedicated to serving the unsheltered population in the Oakland and Alameda County areas. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic environment, engaging directly with guests and staff to deliver exceptional service to vulnerable individuals. This role requires a leader who is visionary, capable of building partnerships, and skilled in training and motivating both staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster staff development to enhance individual growth and performance.
- Maintain knowledge of human service resources to effectively assist the unsheltered community.
- Be available on-call bi-weekly to address shelter staff inquiries and operational issues.
- Review and uphold shelter policies to ensure best practices that promote guest dignity and efficient service.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Director to establish shelter strategies that align with program goals.
- Lead quarterly team meetings and provide personalized coaching to support team development.
- Ensure consistent capture and reporting of shelter program metrics.
- Build relationships with regular program volunteers.
- Participate in organizational meetings and community outreach events.
- Work with leadership to provide insights into shelter budget management.
- Ensure compliance with human resources practices in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports for Human Resources and assist with staff evaluations and training.
- Develop weekly work schedules for shelter personnel.
- Manage guest intake processes and engage with guests as necessary.
- Maintain client databases and manage shelter logistics.
- Track shelter expenses and collaborate with the Grant Administrator for timely invoicing.
