Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician III

WellSpan Health is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Technician III to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health team, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic interventions and support to our clients.

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician III will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to facilitate a stable and smooth operation of the program. This includes developing and executing individual treatment plans, providing day-to-day oversight of therapeutic activities, and maintaining an awareness of significant client history and present status.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and executing individual treatment plans for clients.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of all therapeutic activities.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy utilizing a wide range of techniques designed to treat mental illness, emotional problems, social and interpersonal problems, and functional deficits.
  • Maintain an awareness of significant client history, present status, and any precautions in effect.
  • Collaborate with other staff to provide input into treatment plans for individual clients.
  • Orient family members to the nature of therapeutic services and the specific program.
  • Increases other family members understanding of client needs and progress.
  • Promotes positive family relations, especially effective parental strategies.
  • Exhibits clinically appropriate relational skills.
  • Manages behavioral crises, including 1:1 observation, redirection, physical restraint, and team crisis interventions.
  • Writes behavioral management plans for acute patients in cooperation with treatment team recommendations.
  • Completes assessments as needed.
  • Assists with medication administration and recording as directed.
  • Communicates relevant client progress and participates in weekly treatment team planning.
  • Maintains on-going professional relationships with personnel from schools, public agencies, and mental health and drug and alcohol treatment facilities.
  • Addresses and resolves client funding matters.
  • Conducts inter-agency meetings as necessary.
  • Collaborates in appropriate treatment and discharge plans with client, guardians, and community agencies.
  • Provides transportation in a WellSpan Philhaven vehicle to and from the program for clients that meet requirements and are in need of transportation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical discipline, such as social work, psychology, nursing, or rehabilitation.
  • 1 year of behavioral health experience or 1 year of social science experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
  • Driver's License upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of current activities, therapy principles, and group counseling skills/techniques.
  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Organization and time management.
  • Mental and visual ability to observe client behavior and document findings.
  • Teaching ability.
  • Customer service awareness and capability.
