Position Overview:
The Client Manager plays a crucial role in delivering expert guidance and support that necessitates a blend of technical acumen and exceptional client service capabilities to fulfill client requirements and address challenges. This position may also involve acting as a Client Executive Service for designated accounts, ensuring the effective preparation and delivery of renewal and new business presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary liaison for Clients, Carriers, and the Client Service Team in various areas, including:
- Reviewing and preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Analyzing utilization reports, carrier data, and claims trends.
- Managing COBRA, HIPAA, and coordinating 5500 data.
- Collaborating with carrier representatives to facilitate the seamless implementation of new plans.
- Ensuring timely delivery of necessary plan information and materials to clients.
- Guide and support Benefit Analysts in collecting Client census and benefit plan information essential for preparing materials for new business presentations, renewals, and open enrollment sessions.
- Clarify client needs and concerns, emphasizing how various plan designs and recommendations can address these issues.
- Review renewals, new business presentations, and open enrollment materials for accuracy, compliance, and professionalism.
- Maintain client files and documentation in accordance with established policies and Marsh & McLennan professional standards.
- Enhance analytical, customer service, and communication skills necessary for advancement to Client Manager II.
- Present financial metrics to Client Service or Sales Executives to predict and analyze plan benefit costs and influencing factors.
- Participate in prospect and renewal meetings under the guidance of the Client Executive Service to understand client needs and concerns.
- Learn best practices for presenting renewal outcomes and providing recommendations based on findings.
- Conduct employee open enrollment meetings to discuss benefit options.
- Address and resolve routine client issues related to benefit services and coverage inquiries.
- Keep the Client Executive Service informed of potential errors and omissions concerns and client dissatisfaction. Collaborate to devise possible resolutions and proactive strategies to prevent ongoing or future issues.
- A comprehensive understanding of health and welfare plan benefits and carriers, typically acquired through a minimum of 5 years of experience in group health and benefits sales or service within a brokerage or carrier environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical matters into clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal explanations.
- In-depth knowledge of employee health insurance carriers, their strengths and weaknesses, plan design features, and factors affecting costs and plan design.
- Possession of a valid unrestricted Life and Disability License in California, with adherence to continuing education requirements.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including experience in creating tables, charts, graphs, pivot tables, and formulas.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard and remain in a stationary position for extended periods, as well as utilize office equipment such as fax and copy machines, and telephones. The work environment is typically an office setting.
- Travel to client locations is required, usually within driving distance, but may occasionally involve overnight stays.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $60,000 to $128,000, determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
