Job Overview:

As the Screening & Applications Manager at Cortland, you will oversee the centralized application process and lead a team of Screening & Applications Specialists. Your responsibilities will include managing the prospect-to-applicant journey, including application screening, document collection, employment and rental history validation, applicant touch points, follow-up, and lease document execution for multiple multifamily apartment home communities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of Screening & Applications Specialists to ensure timely and efficient processing of applications.
  • Cultivate an excellent applicant-to-resident experience by establishing check-ins with applicants and ensuring timely responses to pending questions.
  • Ensure the timely generation and delivery of applicant and move-in documentation, adhering to company standards.
  • Drive conversations and collections on all pre-move-in items, including insurance coverages, bonds, utility updates, and lease signer agreements.
  • Engage with communities to provide scheduled reports and partner with Community managers and onsite teams to resolve disputes or concerns hindering move-in.
  • Analyze screening and application data to identify trends and make updates or adjustments to reduce evictions and bad debt.

Requirements:
  • Strong 5+ years of experience in a sales or customer service role, with experience in the multifamily industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Preferred experience leading teams with 20+ direct reports.
  • Prior contact center experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Funnel, RealPage, and OneSite applications.
