About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Newborn Screening Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of Georgia's newborns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze newborn screening dried blood spot specimens for various genetic and metabolic conditions.
  • Test specimens using a variety of techniques, including fluorescent immunoassays, tandem mass spectrometry, high pressure liquid chromatography, real-time PCR, and enzyme assays.
  • Perform and document all required maintenance on instruments and equipment.
  • Participate in special project assignments, such as the evaluation and validation of assays for new disorders or second-tier screening.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by a nationally accredited certifying agency.
  • Three years of job-related science experience.
Preferred Qualifications

We also welcome applicants with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
