Position Overview:

The Electroencephalography Technician I is responsible for conducting diagnostic electroencephalograph (EEG) assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Connects and operates electrodes from designated body areas to leads from the EEG apparatus.
  • Reviews patient records and provides instructions to patients before procedures. Observes patients during testing and reports any irregular findings.
  • Identifies and rectifies artifacts. Compiles and submits results to the supervising physician for evaluation and interpretation.
  • Ensures maintenance of EEG equipment and inventory.
  • Maintains a state of alertness and adheres to safety protocols.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Educational Background:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience and education.

Experience:

  • No prior experience necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Continuous standing and walking.
  • Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
  • Frequent auditory discrimination for body sounds and alarms.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
  • Regular visual acuity for near and far distances and color differentiation.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and repetitive movements.
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional patient handling.
  • Occasional use of olfactory senses to identify odors.
  • Occasional driving tasks.

Required Certifications:

Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
