Position Overview:

The Surgical Neuromonitoring Technician plays a crucial role in conducting diagnostic tests and procedures that are essential for patient safety during surgical interventions. This position involves performing various neurodiagnostic assessments, including EEG, EMG, Evoked Potentials, and Nerve Conduction Studies, as well as monitoring patients during and after surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute intraoperative monitoring and post-surgical assessments of SEEG throughout surgical procedures.
  • Conduct EEG and EMG tests outside of the operating room, ensuring comprehensive neuromonitoring of both routine and continuous EEGs.
  • Operate with a moderate level of supervision, particularly on complex assignments.
  • Manage a variety of unique tasks and responsibilities.
  • Regularly verify the status of EEG software, troubleshoot issues, and communicate with relevant personnel when problems arise.
  • Maintain accurate logs for statistical and reporting purposes, and perform necessary calculations.
  • Assist in Quality Assurance initiatives, including environmental controls and infection control standards.
  • Identify and rectify artifacts in data, forwarding results to the attending physician for further analysis.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of EEG equipment and supplies.
  • Uphold a constant state of alertness and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience of 10 years.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Continuous standing and walking.
  • Frequent communication through hearing and speech.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of heavier objects and moving patients.
  • Frequent use of vision for close and distant tasks, including color differentiation.

Required Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG T.) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation.
