Position Overview:
The Electroneurodiagnostic Surgical and Neuromonitoring Technician plays a vital role in performing diagnostic procedures, including EEG, EMG, Evoked Potentials, and Nerve Conduction Studies, while also providing intraoperative and postoperative monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct intraoperative monitoring and post-surgical assessments of SEEG during surgical interventions.
- Execute EEG and EMG procedures when not engaged in surgical settings, ensuring continuous neuromonitoring of routine and extended EEGs.
- Operate with a moderate level of supervision, focusing on complex new tasks.
- Complete a range of atypical assignments as required.
- Regularly check the status of EEG software, troubleshoot issues, and inform relevant personnel when problems arise.
- Maintain accurate logs for statistical and reporting purposes, and perform necessary calculations.
- Assist in Quality Assurance monitoring, adhering to environmental controls and infection control standards, and managing equipment selection and inventory.
- Identify and rectify artifacts, editing and forwarding results to the attending physician for further analysis.
- Ensure proper maintenance of EEG equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience (10 years).
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Continuous standing and walking.
- Frequent use of auditory and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to hear body sounds and alarms, and recognize malfunctioning equipment.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Regular reaching, gripping, and data entry activities.
- Visual acuity for near and far distances, with the ability to distinguish colors.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, and lifting of heavier objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to assist in moving patients as needed.
- Occasional driving may be required.
Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R. EEG T.) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation.
