Job Summary

Meade Engineering, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead our electrical engineering department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and leadership to drive innovation, optimize processes, and deliver high-quality solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Oversee Electrical Engineering Department: Provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and leadership to lead our electrical engineering department.
  • Project Management and Resource Allocation: Lead and oversee aspects of the electrical engineering department, including project management, resource allocation, and talent development.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and supervise a team of electrical engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Design and Engineering: Responsible for designing electrical power systems and performing design calculations for a broad range of project types.
  • Review and Approval: Review, sign, and seal projects.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, preparation of record drawings, site visits, inspections, and participation in commissioning work.
  • Specifications and Equipment Selection: Writing and editing electrical equipment specifications, selecting equipment, electrical systems, and devices.
  • Project Delivery and Management: Ensure jobs are completed accurately, within deadlines, and on budget.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of Professional Electrical Engineering design experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Experience designing critical power systems for data centers, commercial offices, manufacturing facilities, medical buildings, or other large commercial projects.
  • Technical Skills: Experienced in producing Protective Device Coordination and Arc Flash studies.
  • Leadership and Management: Proven track record of successfully leading and managing electrical engineering teams, delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of National and International Building Codes and NFPA Standards.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of equipment power requirements, including large-scale standby and emergency power systems, including interactive generator controls systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical Commissioning: Experience with electrical commissioning including factory acceptance testing, script development, IR scanning, load bank testing, generator runs, etc.
  • High Voltage Designs: Experience with high voltage designs including substation physical design, protection & controls, SCADA, equipment specification, feeder distribution, redundancy schemes, etc.
