Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models that comply with industry standards and meet client expectations.
  • Design systems incorporating components such as switchgears, transformers, and distribution panels to effectively manage and distribute power throughout the facility.
  • Conduct short circuit calculations to determine fault currents and recommend appropriate protective devices.
  • Execute accurate voltage drop calculations to ensure the stability of electrical systems and adherence to industry regulations.
  • Determine the sizing of conduits and conductors, carefully considering current loads and environmental factors.
  • Evaluate cable tray fills to ensure efficient cable management, organization, and future adaptability.
  • Implement redundancy and backup systems to guarantee continuous power supply and minimize downtime during power outages.
  • Integrate Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems to provide temporary power backup during fluctuations or outages, ensuring the ongoing operation of critical equipment.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Utilize established design methodologies and exercise judgment in adapting and refining design concepts as necessary. Maintain quality control by adhering to company and team design and CAD standards.
  • Encourage collaboration, communication, and support within your team and across multidisciplinary groups (Electrical, Structural, Process/Chemical, Architectural, etc.) to enhance efficiency, quality, and resource management.
  • Conduct field verifications and site assessments to identify, validate, resolve, and incorporate solutions into design packages. Address design challenges on-site during construction as needed.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, qualifying for licensure in the relevant state, is mandatory.
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential. Familiarity with additional tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or EasyPower is advantageous.
  • Understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., National Electric Code, NFPA, etc.) is required.
  • Proven experience in conducting field verifications and site assessments to identify, validate, resolve, and integrate solutions into design packages. Ability to troubleshoot design issues on-site during construction is necessary.
  • Salary Range: $68,000 - $98,000/year based on location, education, experience, and relevant certifications.
