Senior Electrical Systems Engineer Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, plus seven (7) years of experience related to engineering.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, the ability to obtain a Texas PE license within one (1) year of employment.

Position Overview:
This role acts as a key expert within the Project Management team, supporting Transmission and Substation Engineering and Construction initiatives. The Project Management team is tasked with overseeing and coordinating the Capital Improvement Project portfolio for the organization. While a comprehensive understanding of the equipment, design, and operation of these electrical assets is advantageous, the majority of challenges faced are not solely related to the provision of electrical power. A strong desire and capability to learn about the electric utility sector, including design, operation, and maintenance, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Understanding city finance processes, local and state permitting requirements, easement acquisition processes, and collaborating with other city departments and governmental agencies is crucial for project management success.

Compensation:
  • Electrical Systems Engineer: $54.21
  • Senior Electrical Systems Engineer: $62.07

Top Candidate Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current PMP or project management experience for at least three years.
  • Experience managing the design and construction of multi-million-dollar utility or civil engineering projects.
  • Project management experience with the design, permitting, construction, and/or maintenance of electrical utility transmission and distribution systems.
  • Experience managing and coordinating multiple construction projects.
  • Public speaking experience and presenting to diverse groups.
  • Experience managing large teams, including internal staff and external consultants.
  • Experience with public projects in the relevant governing entities, understanding risks related to scope, budget, and timelines.
