Continuous Improvement Project Specialist

This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence throughout the plant by establishing lean manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and manage projects that deliver savings year over year.
  • Track and drive CI projects to completion.
  • Facilitate process improvement projects, training, and workshops to drive cultural change.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/business issues, and create process documentation.
  • Lead, train, and coach cross-functional teams to implement improvements and embrace lean culture change.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel to improve existing processes, increase safety, and solve ergonomic concerns.
  • Use creativity, innovative approaches, and industry-accepted methodologies to solve complex problems.
  • Implement 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, and Standard Work projects.
  • Assist champions of other CI projects as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or 10+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in lean manufacturing environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green belt preferred.
  • Experience with leading project teams.
  • Experience with Lean Systems Implementation in manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent technical skills (mechanical/machining/Special Process).
  • Ability to execute Lean in engineering environments (order flow, technical specs, estimating, configuration).
  • Ability to influence leadership across functions and levels.
  • Strong analytical and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office experience.
  • CAD knowledge preferred.
  • Occasional travel, less than 10%.
