Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Director of Campus Safety, the Security Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the security personnel of the College, ensuring a secure atmosphere for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role encompasses the strategic planning, organization, and daily management of all security department activities, operating continuously throughout the week.

Compensation: $64,500.00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage security officers and operations across all College facilities.
  • Coordinate and respond effectively to emergency situations on campus.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of College emergency protocols and procedures.
  • Assist the Director of Campus Safety in crafting and executing departmental policies related to security and safety systems.
  • Support the development and implementation of procedures for crowd management, building evacuations, fire emergencies, fire drills, and other critical incidents.
  • Conduct training sessions for the College's security personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to College policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Carry out investigations as necessary.
  • Help manage the College's lock and key program.
  • Collaborate with facilities and environmental health teams on building safety matters.
  • Monitor and address safety and security conditions throughout the campus.
  • Review and verify reports for accuracy, following up as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Oversee security scheduling and timekeeping records.
  • Assess the performance of security officers.
  • Exhibit reliability and trustworthiness in all duties.
  • Be prepared to travel between various locations as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in college security is preferred.
  • Prior experience in law enforcement is advantageous.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability to work shifts from 3 PM to 11 PM.
  • Ability to thrive in a student-focused campus environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of emergency management response planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations applicable to higher education institutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Experience with relevant computer applications and technologies.
  • Capability to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Understanding of fire protection and life safety codes.
  • Knowledge of electronic security systems operations.
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedules as needed for College requirements.
  • Ability to make informed decisions during emergencies.
  • Capacity to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
