Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough analysis and develop project designs, calculations, and drawings for various types of bridges, including steel and concrete structures. Prepare detailed engineering reports and contract documents for evaluation.
  • Engage in complex projects involving advanced bridge designs, including skewed and curved structures, post-tensioned concrete bridges, and signature bridge types. Participate in construction engineering and demolition analysis.
  • Assume the role of Engineer-of-Record for specific engineering tasks, leading teams of technicians and designers to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Approach design challenges with creativity, proposing innovative solutions and demonstrating a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Effectively communicate design proposals during internal project meetings, engaging stakeholders to gather feedback and enhance project quality.
  • Manage multiple assignments, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members, internal design groups, and external stakeholders, including clients and government agencies.
  • Contribute to marketing efforts by updating personal resumes and participating in proposal initiatives.
  • Take initiative in personal and professional development, seeking feedback and opportunities to enhance skills.
  • Support the growth of team members through mentorship and positive leadership.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong foundation in Structural Analysis, Design, and Mechanics.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably MicroStation or AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with bridge design software, including GDOT Mathcad Package and Bentley OpenBridge Designer.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis and relevant software tools.
  • Proficient in Excel and/or Mathcad.
  • Understanding of AASHTO LRFD bridge design specifications.
  • Knowledge of GDOT Bridge and Structures Design Manual.
  • Awareness of construction methodologies and equipment.
  • Understanding of Seismic Design principles for bridges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering is advantageous.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
