Job Overview:

In light of strategic succession planning, Cooper Standard is on the lookout for a dynamic Senior Vice President of Financial Operations to enhance its esteemed Finance division. This pivotal role encompasses comprehensive oversight of corporate financial management, including global financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions, alongside strategic financial governance. The selected leader will deliver critical insights and analytical support to elevate both current and future financial outcomes and optimize capital allocation strategies for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Vice President of Financial Operations will:
  • Offer strategic guidance and insights to the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and other senior leaders within Cooper Standard on a range of financial and accounting matters.
  • Manage a global team of approximately 20 finance professionals dedicated to diverse financial planning and analysis initiatives.
  • Establish a rigorous framework for evaluating financial results, ensuring variances are thoroughly investigated and understood, thereby guaranteeing the accuracy of financial statements.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning efforts.
  • Develop and prepare materials for presentations to the Board of Directors and relevant committees.
  • Communicate monthly financial results to senior management and the Board, emphasizing proactive updates and minimizing unexpected outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and Vice Presidents of Fluid Finance and Sealing Finance to ensure consistency in reporting and analysis on a global scale.
  • Supervise the preparation of management's discussion and analysis (MD&A) for quarterly SEC submissions, fostering a strong relationship with Investor Relations.
  • Ensure integrity in financial metrics for executive compensation planning, providing support to the Compensation Committee.
  • Lead complex financial modeling and strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, to enhance returns on invested capital.
  • Implement frameworks, procedures, and financial systems (e.g., Hyperion Planning) to standardize and govern planning, analysis, and reporting across the organization.
  • Provide comprehensive financial support to all corporate functions, including budget creation, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic decision-making.
  • Supervise direct reports, including the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and other key finance management roles.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, with at least 10 years in a management capacity within a company recognized for cultivating exceptional financial talent.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the automotive sector, particularly within a high-growth, multi-billion-dollar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong accounting expertise and proficiency in US GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
  • A four-year undergraduate degree is required; an MBA is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in financial and operational accounting, including responsibilities for internal and external reporting and consolidation processes.
  • Experience in strategic planning, P&L coordination, forecasting, and consolidating financial performance in a large public organization.
  • Strong oversight of internal controls and financial systems is advantageous.
  • Leadership experience in plant, divisional, group, or staff roles is highly valued.
  • Proven success in re-engineering financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Global experience and a multicultural perspective are beneficial, particularly time spent in international markets.
