Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our HIV Epidemiology and Surveillance Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and activities of the group, including establishing goals and objectives, developing and evaluating budget requests, and coordinating and evaluating program activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Manage all HIV Epidemiology and Surveillance Group activities, including HIV surveillance system design, development, integration, and implementation.
  • Staff Supervision: Directly supervise Group staff and provide direction to CDC advisors or students/interns assigned.
  • Grant Management: Oversee the HIV/AIDS Surveillance Cooperative Agreements/Grants, including submitting grant proposals, producing interim and annual progress reports, and developing and managing budgets.
  • Technical Assistance: Plan, coordinate, and evaluate visits to regional and local health departments and other sites to integrate and evaluate surveillance functions and provide technical assistance.
  • Representation: Serve as a statewide expert on HIV surveillance and represent the Group/program at meetings, hearings, conferences, workgroups, and committees.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of disease and/or injury surveillance, epidemiologic methods, research design, data collection, data systems, data analysis, data quality assurance, program evaluation, and computer systems.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse personnel, including management and staff of the Branch, other DHSH programs, local and regional health departments, contractors, and federal funders.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of a large number of technical staff and interpret epidemiologic information on TB/HIV/STD and provide consultation and leadership at a statewide level.
