Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled Epidemiology and Surveillance Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Tuberculosis (TB) program, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operations of the TB Epidemiology and Surveillance Group.

Under the direction of the Unit director, you will establish goals and objectives that align with Unit priorities, develop and maintain standards of operation for the Group, and create team workflows to facilitate work performance and foster prompt response to Unit staff.

You will also be responsible for maintaining a competent TB workforce statewide, working with teams and other Unit staff to develop and/or maintain trainings, and engaging in research opportunities to highlight program's performance on a variety of TB interventions and practices.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the daily operations of the TB Epidemiology and Surveillance Group
  • Establish goals and objectives that align with Unit priorities
  • Develop and maintain standards of operation for the Group
  • Create team workflows to facilitate work performance and foster prompt response to Unit staff
  • Maintain a competent TB workforce statewide
  • Work with teams and other Unit staff to develop and/or maintain trainings
  • Engage in research opportunities to highlight program's performance on a variety of TB interventions and practices

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of public health laws
  • Extensive knowledge of tuberculosis disease transmission, disease management and prevention methods
  • Knowledge of TB epidemiology and other infectious diseases
  • Knowledge of the essential components of a TB program
  • Ability to manage a public health program
  • Ability to plan, develop and coordinate field operations
  • Ability to manage program activities and establish goals and objectives
  • Ability to develop and assess performance measures
  • Ability to devise solutions to administrative problems
  • Ability to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures
  • Ability to prepare concise reports
  • Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of others
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary work environment
  • Ability to facilitate and work in a team environment
  • Ability to adhere to agency and program standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in public health program management
  • Experience working with TB programs and populations
  • Experience developing and implementing training programs
  • Experience with research and evaluation methods

Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per year
