Position Overview:

Nuvance Health operates a comprehensive network of hospitals and outpatient facilities, providing exceptional healthcare services across various locations. Our facilities include multiple hospitals and specialized care practices, ensuring a broad spectrum of medical support for our communities.

Role Purpose: The Supervisor of Respiratory Care Services is responsible for managing the daily technical operations of the Respiratory Care Services Department. This role involves collaboration with the Department Director and Clinical Specialist to ensure efficient department functioning. Key responsibilities include overseeing staff assignments, conducting training, and maintaining departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and coordinate clinical assignments, ensuring optimal staffing and coverage.
  2. Oversee personnel management, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
  3. Enhance department protocols related to smoking cessation, medication conversions, and patient weaning processes.
  4. Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and ensure compliance with established workflows.
  5. Support departmental competency training and maintain accurate documentation.
  6. Provide oversight for the Blood Gas Laboratory in the absence of the clinical manager.
  7. Ensure efficient and compliant daily operations, addressing issues as they arise.
  8. Manage departmental equipment and supplies, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  9. Collaborate with the Department Director on quality assurance initiatives, adhering to regulatory standards.
  10. Continuously seek to improve workflows and departmental efficiency.
  11. Adhere to all organizational policies and relevant regulations.
  12. Commit to ongoing professional development and education.
  13. Exhibit consistent and reliable attendance.
  14. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in critical care settings.
  • Preferred: Two years of management experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong personnel management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with policy and procedure development.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance issues.

Licensure:

  • Valid New York State Respiratory Therapist License.
