Position Overview
Nuvance Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our esteemed team. As a vital member of our healthcare community, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and evaluation of various life support apparatus used in diagnosing and treating respiratory conditions across diverse patient demographics, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This role operates under the guidance of the Director of Cardio-Respiratory Care Services and the Respiratory Care Management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to formulate and adjust patient care strategies.
  • Administer complex therapies that necessitate considerable independent decision-making, particularly in critical care settings.
  • Conduct thorough physical assessments and diagnostic evaluations to measure lung function and blood chemistry.
  • Implement treatment protocols utilizing oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and chest physiotherapy techniques.
  • Assist patients requiring mechanical ventilation and provide education on the use of respiratory equipment and medications.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required; completion of an AMA accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Eligibility for registry or current registration as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply, though a minimum of one year of clinical experience in Respiratory Care is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid New York State license or permit is necessary.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized organization is required.
Work Environment
This full-time position involves a standard work schedule of 37.50 hours per week, primarily during night shifts. The role may require flexibility to accommodate rotating holidays and weekends.
