Housing Navigator Job Description

Job Summary:

The Housing Navigator will play a crucial role in assisting homeless families and individuals in securing safe, affordable housing in a timely manner. This position will engage and build relationships with landlords in the private market, market Goodwill's Housing programs, and advocate for clients as future tenants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network with landlords and property managers to identify potential housing units.
  • Document all aspects of participant housing searches, meeting deadlines as required by agency and program regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Goodwill Housing team and outside providers to support participants in identifying and securing permanent housing.
  • Diplomatically address housing issues, such as maintenance of apartments, tenant disputes, and landlord issues.
  • Create and implement participant workshops to increase responsible tenancy and long-term stable housing.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 years of experience, or an Associate's Degree and 3 years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree and 1 year of experience.
  • Must have experience working with the rental market and social service system.
  • Preferred experience in homeless/affordable housing and real estate/rental market.

Clearances and Certifications:

  • Candidates must provide current valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) upon hire.
  • Must have a driver's license and reliable transportation.
