Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivers continuous nursing care (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) tailored to the age-specific and developmental requirements of patients.
  • Evaluates the educational needs of patients, families, and significant others, providing appropriate teaching and counseling.
  • Proactively identifies and responds to changes in a patient's condition and care requirements.
  • Establishes priorities for patient care based on critical patient needs.
  • Incorporates health promotion and preventive care strategies into practice.
  • Offers fundamental guidance to patients regarding standard procedures, treatments, or medical conditions.
  • Conducts telephone triage for patients, families, and significant others, applying nursing judgment in accordance with established protocols.
  • Ensures high-quality care through the development, implementation, and assessment of professional nursing standards, and engages in quality assurance initiatives.
  • Participates in community education initiatives.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. This includes understanding growth and development principles across the lifespan and the ability to assess and interpret data relevant to each patient's age-specific needs, providing care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months, and
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the individual practices.
Education Required:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Experience Required:
  • Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to establish rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with diverse patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Proven ability to make critical, independent decisions effectively.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including delegation, organization, prioritization, and fostering team rapport.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including keyboarding, navigating within a Windows operating system, and utilizing electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Must be capable of:
  • lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
  • lifting up to 20 lbs overhead.
  • carrying up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to:
  • push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
  • perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with assistance.
  • Will frequently encounter hazards such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluids. Protective clothing and equipment will be required as necessary.
  • Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with the ability to perform fine-hand manipulation skills.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
