We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at 295 Aurora Advanced Healthcare, Inc. as an Internal Medicine Specialist. The successful candidate will provide exceptional clinical support to our healthcare team, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs, gathering and documenting pertinent health information, and monitoring clinical integration and quality improvement measures.
- Perform laboratory procedures, including strep tests, wound cultures, and specimen collection, using aseptic technique and standard precautions.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice clinicians with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, and colposcopy.
- Administer routine medications under physician or APC orders, including immunizations, antibiotics, vitamins, and topical agents.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure smooth clinic flow and adjust as necessary.
- Perform basic and advanced clinical support tasks, including removal of sutures and staples, laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry, and Holter monitor application, under clinical supervision.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days of hire.
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
- Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
The Medical Assistant will work in a fast-paced clinical environment, requiring the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday. The ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance is required, with the use of patient handling equipment expected for patient lifts over 35 pounds or when the patient is unable to assist with the lift.
