Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Service Representative to join our team at the Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Council. As a key member of our Patient Services team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients and their families, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience from initial contact to appointment scheduling and follow-up care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer and direct phone calls, take detailed messages, and forward calls to the appropriate person
  • Build effective relationships with patients and families, educating them about our services and addressing their needs
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring timely and accurate communication
  • Check patients in via electronic health record (EHR) and collect co-payments
  • Interface with staff to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing information
  • Refer patients to Case Management or other personnel for insurance/financial programs
  • Complete patient check-out process, handle money, make change, and process credit card payments
  • Perform general clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing
  • Review and input patient information and demographics into the EHR system
  • Verify insurance eligibility and update EHR
  • Scan insurance cards and navigate insurance verification websites
Requirements
  • Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training
  • Experience with clerical tasks in a medical office
  • Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer Service experience
  • Computer skills, including scheduling and EHR systems
Work Environment

This is a full-time position, working 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 10 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
