Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Lesson Plans: Create engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and modalities, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education in computer technology and art design.
  • Provide Individualized Instruction: Offer one-on-one instruction to students with varying skill levels, adapting your teaching methods to meet their unique needs and abilities.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with an interdisciplinary teaching team to establish clear objectives, develop curriculum, and implement educational programs that promote student growth and development.
  • Monitor Student Progress: Regularly assess student progress, adjust teaching strategies as needed, and provide constructive feedback to students and colleagues.
  • Participate in School Community: Engage in project-based learning, celebratory events, and restorative justice practices, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.
  • Maintain Professional Development: Stay current with industry developments, participate in training and professional development opportunities, and apply best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to Student Teams: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support to students, sharing knowledge and expertise to achieve treatment, behavioral, and educational goals.
  • Teach Outside Primary Discipline: May be required to teach classes outside of primary discipline, including computer skills, art periods, or other related subjects.
  • Provide Coverage and Support: Offer monitoring and coverage as needed in the program, including lunch, recess, halls, and field trips, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Massachusetts Educator Licensure: Highly desired, but not required.
  • Associates Degree and Knowledge: Required in the field of designated assignment or subject, such as art, vocational training, computer science, or a related field.
  • Completion of MTEL/VTEL: Required for certification.
  • Previous Classroom Experience: Required, with experience in special education and working with the program's specific population highly desired.
