Position Overview:

As a Cannabis Retail Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the dynamic landscape of cannabis retail. Acting as a knowledgeable guide, you will be instrumental in attracting patients seeking medicinal cannabis and welcoming adult-use customers, cultivating an atmosphere where education, discovery, and satisfaction converge. Your primary duty is to provide in-depth education on various strains, their effects, and methods of consumption, ensuring that every individual receives personalized insights to make informed choices. In addition to education, you will represent our dispensary, delivering friendly and knowledgeable service, processing transactions in our POS system, and collaborating closely with management to maintain an orderly and inviting retail space.

Key Responsibilities:

The Cannabis Retail Specialist enhances the overall experience for our patients and customers. This role is central to our interactions, where you will help shape a positive, informative, and seamless journey for both new and returning clientele. Your essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet all visitors with a warm demeanor, fostering a welcoming retail environment.
  • Assist and educate patients and customers in selecting appropriate products, offering tailored insights into strains and their effects.
  • Engage proactively with customers, guiding them through our offerings and promoting exclusive deals to enhance sales opportunities.
  • Accurately manage patient records, verifying identities and eligibility in accordance with legal and company standards.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, representing the company's values and mission.
  • Uphold the company's core principles, including respect, diversity, sustainability, research, and service.
  • Adhere to iAnthus' cultural values of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Process transactions accurately, receiving payments graciously and recording purchases in our management system.
  • Provide informative materials to patients and customers, aiding them in making well-informed choices.
  • Maintain a sales-oriented mindset, consistently seeking opportunities to boost sales and expand business.
  • Collaborate with management to monitor product inventory, ensuring a diverse and fresh selection that meets customer needs.
  • Keep the retail area clean and organized.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old (18 in NY).
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Consent to a criminal background check is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation is essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
  • Reliability is crucial.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient with computers and quick to learn new software.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn state-specific cannabis regulations is essential.
  • Comfortable educating customers about the medicinal and recreational aspects of cannabis and conducting informational sessions to enhance their understanding and confidence in product selection.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a retail dispensary setting, utilizing a computer, telephone, and other office equipment to fulfill duties. It is a hands-on, customer-facing role that requires regular interaction with the public, necessitating a friendly and helpful demeanor. The role demands the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and may involve exposure to various conditions, including fumes, dust, and noise.

The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including potential evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Frequent interruptions may occur throughout the workday, necessitating strong self-management and time management skills.
