Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Building Automation Lead Technician who will be instrumental in implementing high-quality building automation control practices. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and a strong commitment to performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and install control logic in accordance with company standards and project specifications.
  • Oversee subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and design.
  • Act as the onsite project lead for system checkout, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Create and modify graphical user interfaces to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain precise documentation of system installations and modifications.
  • Manage materials essential for project completion.
  • Analyze automation system operations and implement necessary improvements.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electrical principles and safety practices for both high and low voltage applications.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of HVAC systems and their control sequences.
  • Assist the systems design team with technical insights related to control systems architecture.
  • Ensure successful deployment of automation systems on existing networks.
  • Provide accurate project status assessments and communicate progress effectively.
  • Foster positive relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Engage in continuous process evaluation and improvement efforts.
  • Support team members with technical assistance as required.
  • Stay informed about industry technological advancements and contribute to the implementation of new solutions.
  • Prepare correspondence and documentation to meet company standards.
  • Assist clients with software, hardware, and networking solutions.
  • Mentor and develop entry-level employees.
  • Support estimating, design, and project change orders as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours service calls.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year College Engineering Degree (HVAC/Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Tridium Niagara Platform; Niagara4 Certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Distech Controls and leading building automation projects through all phases of implementation.
  • Information Technology (networking) experience is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with major control systems such as Trane, Johnson Controls, Alerton, Automated Logic, and Siemens is advantageous.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Effective prioritization of tasks.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes relevant to HVAC.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical and construction safety practices.

Physical Demands: The role requires the ability to stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. Employees must be capable of lifting and transporting tools and materials as necessary, and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated environments.
