Position Summary

The Entry/Welder Operator for Annealing and Pickling 1 is a hands-on position pivotal to the finishing process of stainless steel coils. This role demands the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, specifically 12 hours daily, and to lift weights up to 50 pounds within the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review the coil schedule to confirm the correct coil is prepared for processing
  • Feed coils into the shear, cut off leader strips, and trim scrap to the appropriate gauge, ensuring the head of the coil is ready for welding
  • Execute the welding of the coil to the tail of the preceding coil, ensuring efficiency to maintain line speed
  • Inspect all incoming coils at the head, middle, and tail, documenting findings in the AS400 system
  • Communicate the exit coil number and monitor for any incoming defects
  • Oversee coils in line for steering and defects, making necessary adjustments
  • Adhere to all safety protocols
  • Conduct housekeeping and maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in reading and speaking English
  • Ability to pass a drug test, physical examination, and background check
  • Capability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours daily
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Good vision, with or without correction
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required
