Position Summary

The Ion Exchange Resin Technician is responsible for preparing resin, mobile equipment, and ion exchange resin tanks to meet customer needs. This role involves regenerating ion exchange resin and media using various chemicals, including acids, bases, and salts. The technician will conduct quality control assessments on the equipment and will be accountable for tasks associated with Plant Operations.

  • Monitors the delivery of bulk chemicals
Responsibilities
  • Receives resin from customer locations in tanks or mobile equipment, empties exhausted media, and prepares for regeneration.
  • Regenerates ion exchange resins and media using acids, bases, and other chemicals.
  • Conducts quality control checks on equipment to ensure compliance with specifications, including tests for pH, specific ions, resistivity, and total dissolved solids (TDS).
  • Assists in the repair and maintenance of bottles, tanks, and other service equipment, including minor valve and PVC repairs, painting, and refurbishing as necessary.
  • Prepares resin tanks or mobile equipment by filling them with regenerated media.
  • Separates ion exchange resins as required.
  • Prioritizes safety by wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar manufacturing environment involving chemical handling, or at least 1 year of experience in plumbing, pump, or mechanical repair. This position requires physical activity, including frequent lifting and bending, use of hand tools, and manual manipulation of products and equipment.

Education & Experience

Required
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred
Knowledge of high school-level chemistry is highly desirable.

Working Conditions
Willingness to undertake occasional site assignments for customer troubleshooting, operation, and installation. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working at elevated heights. Flexibility to work in various environments, including industrial and manufacturing facilities. Willingness to travel for installation and repair as necessary.
