Position Summary

The Ion Exchange Resin Technician is responsible for the preparation of resin, mobile equipment, and ion exchange resin tanks to fulfill customer requirements. This role involves regenerating ion exchange resin and media utilizing various chemicals, as well as handling substances such as acids, bases, and salts. The technician conducts quality control assessments on the equipment and oversees tasks associated with Plant Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive resin from customer locations in tanks or mobile equipment, emptying them of exhausted media and preparing for regeneration.
  • Regenerate ion exchange resins and media using acids, bases, and other chemicals.
  • Conduct quality control checks on equipment to ensure compliance with specifications, including tests for pH, specific ions, resistivity, and total dissolved solids (TDS).
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of bottles/tanks and other service-related equipment, which may involve minor valve/PVC repairs, painting, and refurbishing as necessary.
  • Prepare resin tanks or mobile equipment by filling them with regenerated media.
  • Separate ion exchange resins as required.
  • Prioritize safety by wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a comparable manufacturing environment involving chemical handling, or at least 1 year of experience in plumbing, pump, or mechanical repair.
  • This position requires physical activity, including frequent lifting and bending motions, as well as the use of hand tools and manual manipulation of products/equipment.

Education & Experience

Required

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of high school chemistry is highly desirable.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working at elevated heights, along with manual dexterity.
