Your Role in Our Team

We are looking for experienced Lead Chemical Process Engineers to support Ethylene Glycol and Polyethylene technologies at our Gulf Coast Growth Ventures site.

As a Lead Chemical Process Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient operation of our facilities. You will be tasked with initiating and spearheading enhancements to unit performance, focusing on safety, production, and reliability within a collaborative team environment. Your strategic thinking, thoughtful execution, and ability to work across various teams and levels will be essential. In this capacity, you will act as a senior technical resource, offering expertise to tackle complex processes across business units.

Lead Chemical Process Engineers primarily focus on establishing long-term visions for unit performance and troubleshooting while also supporting daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical authority on the business team by:
    • Guiding junior engineers in design methodologies, unit health assessments, and troubleshooting techniques
    • Providing after-hours support for unusual and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds
    • Contributing to the development of long-term strategies for product line enhancements
    • Coordinating and designing plant testing and product trials
    • Serving as a senior resource, collaborating with supervisors to establish clear objectives and align priorities for the technical team
    • Influencing stakeholders and driving solutions without direct authority
  • Collaborate in a team setting with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel while interfacing with corporate technology support
    • Ability to engage with third-party vendors for cost optimization and solution development
  • Act as a process safety expert on the business team, leading Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs) and Risk Assessments by formulating closure plans and strategies for identified risks
    • Lead and support incident investigations as the technical lead
  • Assist in the development and execution of various capital projects aimed at enhancing margins or mitigating SHE risks
  • Provide on-site support during plant startups, shutdowns, or operational disruptions
  • Exhibit the courage to foster healthy discussions for both the business team and corporate technology support to achieve optimal outcomes
Qualifications

Required Skills
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in fuels/chemicals manufacturing, particularly with Ethylene Glycol, Ethylene, Polyethylene, and Utilities
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Experience in process design
  • Familiarity with advanced control strategies and optimization software
  • Knowledge of RBI practices (corrosion damage mechanisms and mitigations)
  • Experience in risk assessment and HAZOP processes
  • Understanding of safety relief limits (modeling and evaluations)
  • Proficiency in modeling software (PROII, ASPEN, etc.)
  • Experience with Kinetic Modeling (SOL, KBC Profimatics, etc.)
