Job Overview

This engineering position focuses on the enhancement of electrical and instrumentation engineering standards while striving to elevate the technical quality of project proposals, estimates, construction packages, and maintenance strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the performance of systems and components in their operational context.
  • Ensure that all projects adhere to environmental and safety regulations.
  • Lead minor capital reliability enhancement initiatives from inception to completion.
  • Establish quality assurance and quality control protocols for critical electrical tasks.
  • Conduct electrical gap evaluations through regular audits to assess the effectiveness of maintenance and reliability processes.
  • Identify opportunities for reliability improvements, design enhancements, and oversee their execution in collaboration with Operations & Maintenance teams.
  • Perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) assessments on essential or unreliable equipment.
  • Review Management of Change (MOC) documents and capital projects for potential reliability enhancements.
  • Conduct analyses such as Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Failure Modes Effects Analyses (FMEA) on electrical components.
  • Foster a culture of safety excellence by leading through example and intervening when necessary to rectify unsafe practices.
  • Ensure that newly installed electrical equipment is designed for long-term reliability.
  • Provide operational support by responding to field requests for technical guidance on electrical equipment in accordance with established company standards.
  • Develop and maintain electrical reliability programs, including electrical power load studies, equipment coordination studies, Arc Flash safety assessments, grounding system design, lighting system specifications, and communication system designs.
  • Conduct comprehensive design reviews and provide guidance to designers and external contractors regarding project design packages.
  • Create, monitor, and enhance engineering standards, recommended practices, standard designs, and specifications that contribute to the company's design library.
  • Perform facility assessments through site visits to evaluate the current electrical installation, improve documentation, and assist in preparing scopes of work for maintenance capital improvement projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a reliability or design engineer within the refining, chemicals, or other process industries, or with an engineering firm serving these sectors.
