Position Overview

Excel Orthopaedic Specialists is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant/Certified Athletic Trainer to enhance patient care and clinic operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth clinic visits and assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of the provider pod, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Prepare for patient appointments by reviewing schedules, organizing charts, and ensuring necessary equipment is ready.
  • Welcome patients, guide them from the waiting area to examination rooms, and assist with patient intake and education.
  • Support healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, including tasks such as ultrasound, injections, and specimen collection.
  • Administer injections and blood draws, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Maintain and organize medical supplies and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Handle incoming calls professionally, providing information and directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare necessary documentation, including work/school notes and prescription refill requests.
  • Assist patients with mobility and care needs as required.
  • Document patient visits and orders accurately using electronic health record systems.
  • Identify urgent situations and escalate them to the appropriate team member for immediate attention.
  • Maintain work queues and assist in various clinical areas as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings and ongoing education to enhance professional development.
  • Ensure maintenance of required certifications, including Medical Assistant or Athletic Trainer licensure, CPR, and First Aid.
Qualifications
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant or Certified Athletic Trainer is required; experience in orthopaedics or sports medicine is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of patients and calls in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including experience with EMR and MS Office.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data security.
  • Demonstrated dedication to high standards of care and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
