Senior Financial Accountant

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Controller, this role is pivotal in aiding the preparation of monthly financial reports, conducting year-end audits, and formulating annual budgets. Responsibilities include preparing and entering journal entries, as well as analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, alongside other projects as assigned by the team. This position requires effective communication and collaboration with Department Heads, Purchasing, and other personnel regarding accounting and financial matters pertinent to their respective projects and departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, management analysis, and reporting.
- Analyze and reconcile accounts within the general ledger.
- Record monthly journal entries accurately.
- Oversee the fixed asset and inventory management modules.
- Develop depreciation and amortization schedules for fixed assets and vehicle acquisitions.
- Prepare capital budgets and forecast depreciation to support annual budgeting, reforecasting, and five-year projections.
- Facilitate Business License filings and provide support for tax-related matters.
- Assist management in evaluating actual results, performing variance analysis between budgeted and actual figures, forecasting future trends, and monitoring significant project outcomes against estimates.
- Contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance operations, reduce turnaround times, and streamline financial closing processes.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management, including special projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2-5 years of accounting experience, encompassing both public (Big 4) audit and private accounting department roles.
- Strong grasp of GAAP principles and their application.
- Experience in generating monthly financial statements and conducting account reconciliations.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on projects; adept at multitasking and ensuring timely project completion.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Windows; experience with data warehouse front-end software for report generation is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and other departments to enhance business processes and financial controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to engage positively and effectively within a team setting.
- A four-year degree in business or accounting is preferred; CPA designation is a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience in construction accounting is advantageous but not required.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and analytical roles is beneficial.

TRAVEL:
Minimal travel required, approximately 0-5% of the time to regional branch offices or project sites.
COMPENSATION:
Annual salary range is $81,000 to $106,500. Actual compensation is determined by various factors unique to each candidate, including job-related skills, experience, certifications, education, and specific work location. The offered salary is one aspect of the total compensation package.
