Job Title:
Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist


Schedule Notes:
Standard working hours, Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.

Responsibilities:
1. Exhibits proficiency in executing clinical, technical, service, and administrative responsibilities.
2. Conducts MRI imaging operations, managing and preparing specialized apparatus for magnetic imaging tasks.
3. Aids in the preparation and positioning of patients as necessary for MRI examinations.

Utilizes appropriate technical judgment to secure studies of acceptable diagnostic quality in accordance with established protocols and patient requirements.

5.

Educates patients regarding specific imaging processes by explaining the procedure, the targeted area, and any pertinent instructions.

6. Reviews patient safety questionnaires and adheres to MRI safety protocols prior to conducting scans.
7. Verifies patient clearance before transitioning from restricted zones.
8. Assists in the administration of contrast media and/or operates power injectors under sterile conditions.
9. Positions patients and associated coils to achieve optimal imaging results.
10. Scans and processes patient-related documentation.
11. Ensures all images are correctly labeled as per departmental standard operating procedures.
12. Provides direct assistance to physicians as required.
13. Evaluates radiographs for technical acceptability and ensures timely transmission of images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

Maintains cleanliness of the Radiology room and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift, including the disposal of soiled linens.

15. Keeps necessary supplies and accessories stocked in the imaging room to safely perform duties.
16. Accurately logs all required patient tracking information into the Radiology Information System (IDX).
17. Schedules examinations within the Radiology Information System (IDX) as needed.
18. Ensures all studies conducted are completed in the Radiology Information System (IDX) promptly.
19. Notifies supervisors or relevant personnel of required equipment repairs or unsafe conditions.
20.

Prevents the transmission of infections to self, patients, visitors, and colleagues by following infection control policies and protocols.

21. Participates in in-service training and other professional development sessions as necessary.
22. Maintains licensure in good standing, adhering to relevant public health regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Minimum Licensing Requirements: New York State License (L.R.T.) and IV Certification.
  • Minimum Certification Requirements: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MRI certified) and BLS certification.
