Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for operating Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce high-quality clinical diagnostic images.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas/parts as ordered, producing high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists.
- Prepare and position patients properly, providing clear and concise instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam.
- Ensure quality review of images falls within the guidelines of departmental SOP (Standard Operating Protocol).
- Practice safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in range of magnetic field, ensuring MRI safety protocols are practiced.
- Accurately utilize the PACS (Picture Archival System) to make images available to radiologists for interpretation with minimal exceptions.
- Enter proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and complete exams in a timely fashion.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies, reporting any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Instruct and supervise radiography students in clinical practicum, working with students to perform exams and evaluate images.
Requirements:
- Technical Diploma from an AMA-approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services.
- New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temp Permit.
- ARRT Advanced Certification in MRI required within 180 days of hire or transfer.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Radiology Program or related Health field.
- Years of MRI technologist or training experience.
