Position Overview

Summary:

The Field Engineering division is responsible for monitoring product performance in real-world applications and leveraging that expertise to deliver engineering assistance to clients, the sales team, tire design engineers, and manufacturing staff at Yokohama Off-Highway Tires America, Inc. A significant portion of a field engineer's responsibilities involves visiting client sites across the United States to assess the utilization and performance of Yokohama products. The remaining time is dedicated to planning field assessments, analyzing data from claims and tests, reporting findings, and offering technical support to both internal and external stakeholders. Field engineers operate autonomously with overarching guidance from management, while strategic and technical direction is provided by the VP of Marketing and product management for the Yokohama Off-Highway Tires Group.

The selected candidate will primarily focus on Agricultural (AG), Off-The-Road (OTR), and/or Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) tires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical assistance to field sales personnel and clients throughout the USA.
  • Design, execute, and report on field investigations.
  • Examine test and claim data to communicate tire performance insights to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify potential product enhancements and advocate for necessary modifications.
  • Assist in organizing, planning, and facilitating training sessions for sales teams and clients.
  • Assess usage and maintenance conditions to provide product recommendations aimed at enhancing performance.
  • Support the mentorship and guidance of junior field engineers.
  • Act as a representative for Yokohama in industry associations and standardization organizations.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical and technical skills with practical capabilities.
  • Customer-focused approach.
  • Experience in the commercial vehicle sector and/or tire products or automotive industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented, data-driven, self-motivated, and organized.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a science-related field is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3-5+ years of applicable field engineering experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Capability to physically handle heavy tires, perform tire cutting for analysis, manage large tire sections, and operate tools and relevant equipment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and technical report generation.
