**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant/Patient Service Specialist to join our team at Steward Health Care. As a key member of our clinical and administrative team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in our physician practice.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Work closely with providers to assist in delivering world-class care to patients.
  • Room patients and prepare them for provider visits.
  • Take vital signs and enter them accurately into our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Record patient history, chief complaint, pharmacy information, and prescription lists into our EMR system.
  • Obtain required consents and complete necessary forms for specific visit types.
  • Perform in-office testing and EKGs as ordered.
  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed by providers, following SMG policies.
  • Stock rooms and monitor expiration of supplies in exam rooms.
  • Assist with incoming calls, answering, triaging, and routing telephone calls as needed.
  • Register patients in our EMR system and verify information, including demographics and health insurance details.
  • Schedule patients' appointments and testing as directed.
  • Follow scheduling rules and direct patient visits in other SMG practices.
  • Perform pre-visit planning daily for all upcoming scheduled appointments.
  • Perform outreach to select patient groups as directed for patient care and quality, and schedule specialty appointments and testing as required.
  • Inform managers of clinical or administrative supply needs or assist with ordering.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and/or insurance referrals as per practice need.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to all SMG policies and maintain patient confidentiality.

**Requirements**

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Education from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent preferred.
  • One to three years of experience as a medical assistant preferred.
  • Strong customer service excellence expected.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience with EMR systems, preferably Athena, and Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
