Job Summary

The Patient Access Scheduling Coordinator Senior Float is a key member of the Clinic Access Department at Moffitt Cancer Center, responsible for registering and scheduling patients for outpatient services. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to ensure seamless patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register and schedule patients for outpatient services, including surgery, blood and bone marrow, integrated clinical services, diagnostics, labs, behavioral health, virtual health, research, and infusion.
  • Perform pre-registration or registration of patients for appointments, ensuring accurate insurance data and billing information.
  • Communicate with ordering, referring, or attending providers and patients to schedule appointment procedures, adhering to scheduling guidelines.
  • Explain required registration elements, including forms, to patients when necessary.
  • Review documented instructions with patients to ensure they are properly prepared for scheduled procedures, tests, and/or appointments.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in patient registration and/or patient scheduling, plus 1 year of related customer service experience, or 1 year of relevant patient access and/or scheduling experience at Moffitt Cancer Center, plus 1 year of related customer service experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including accuracy in data entry of patient information in computer systems.
  • Critical thinking skills and a solution-focused approach.
  • Flexibility to work in various clinics depending on daily volumes.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience working in an environment with competing priorities and demands, with performance metrics.
  • Sensitivity and compassion for patients who may experience difficulties and challenges as they seek cancer care.
