Financial Accounting Team Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accounting Team Lead to join our team at Spectrum. As a key member of our Financial Accounting team, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounting team, preparing and reviewing financial statements, and maintaining the general ledgers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation, reviewing, and closing of assigned financial statements, including journal entries, balance sheet reviews, account reconciliations, and analysis by the assigned team in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manage and evaluate the staff assigned to their group, identifying actions that need to occur and making recommendations to the leadership on staffing.
  • Timely complete functional workloads as assigned, including revenue, programming, capital expenditures, corporate consolidation, bank reconciliations, M&A, charter business, E-Rate, accrual support, audit support.
  • Communicate with personnel on accounting-related issues involving their area of responsibility and the applicable staff.
  • Complete special projects and work with other team members as needed.
  • Complete all SOX work timely with signoffs and documentation, communicating issues as needed to staff and management.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • General ledger accounting work experience of 7-10 years.
  • Supervisory experience of 3-5 years.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate with employees, customers, and suppliers in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Knowledge of Accounting theory and procedures.
  • Knowledge of SAP general ledger software as well as Business Objects, Essbase, Blackline.
