Job Summary

The Gas Skilled Laborer/Groundman is a key member of our crew, responsible for supporting the installation and repair of gas lines. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the crew with the installation and repair of gas lines, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Gather materials and equipment for the job, ensuring that the crew has everything required to complete the task.
  • Distribute materials at the job site, ensuring that they are properly stored and organized.
  • Hand locate existing utilities, taking care to avoid damage to surrounding infrastructure.
  • Hand grade landscape areas, ensuring that the site is safe and accessible for the crew.
  • Safely operate equipment, such as rubber-tired backhoes, skid steer loaders, directional drills, trenchers, and asphalt paving machines.
  • Utilize equipment after the operator digs the ditch line for gas mains, ensuring that the installation is completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Lift heavy natural gas pipelines for installation, when required.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned by the crew leader or supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of gas utility construction experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and standing. The role also requires working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
