Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Design Engineer to join our team at Lumenance. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative products that meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage design projects from concept through production, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new products, from concept to production, aligning with company goals and objectives.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify customer needs and market trends, informing design decisions.
  • Create detailed product specifications and design documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and test prototypes to ensure product quality and reliability, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufactured to meet design specifications, promoting efficient production processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve product designs based on customer feedback and market trends, driving innovation and growth.
  • Prepare original/revised design layouts based on customer CAD data and specifications, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new or revised designs, supporting informed business decisions.
  • Develop, document, and implement departmental procedures in accordance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Maintain current knowledge of sound engineering practices, manufacturing processes, FMVSS regulations, and SAE or other applicable standards, staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Apply knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering procedures, and CAD system to identify most effective methods, equipment, and processes, optimizing design and production.
  • Verify designs for design intent, specifications, and quality, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide technical product expertise to all internal/external relationships, supporting informed decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in product design and development, with a strong portfolio of innovative designs.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software and 3D modeling tools (CATIA, CREO, NX or similar), with experience in rapid prototyping and testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Additional courses or experience in CAD Design methods, FEA, Kinematics, simulation tools, and mechanisms desirable as appropriate to the position.
  • Strategic thinker, mindful of overall company/corporate goals, with a focus on driving innovation and growth.
  • Travel Requirements: must be able to fulfill occasional travel, domestic & international, to other facilities, customers, and vendors.
  • WORK AUTHORIZATION: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
