Position Summary:
The Complex Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the hotel. This position involves overseeing financial processes, ensuring compliance with established controls, and delivering timely financial reports and analyses to inform strategic decisions that affect the hotel's financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial aspects of the hotel, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Night Audit, and Payroll, ensuring they are managed effectively.
- Implement and monitor robust controls to enhance profitability, minimize losses, and protect hotel assets.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures, reporting any discrepancies to the General Manager and Corporate Office.
- Prepare accurate financial reports in a timely manner to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure efficient and precise budget preparation.
- Provide analytical support and insights to management as directed by the General Manager.
- Ensure operational efficiency in all financial areas of the hotel.
- Participate in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of new staff as necessary.
- Engage in monthly departmental meetings and contribute to the property’s management program.
- Assist the Controller in payroll preparation, including the bi-weekly overtime and tip allocation reports, and ensure timely distribution of payroll checks.
- At least 2 years of experience in hotel accounting functions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated high work ethic and self-motivation.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Regular attendance in accordance with established guidelines.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules based on business needs.
- Basic computational skills to produce required reports accurately.
- Ability to focus on multiple tasks and meet deadlines despite interruptions.
- Capability to maintain excellent relationships with staff while ensuring confidentiality.
- Willingness to participate in and occasionally lead departmental meetings.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Capability to lift approximately fifteen (15) pounds.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in various physical tasks including grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, and listening.
- Dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, calculators, and photocopiers.
