Library Systems & Services is in search of a Library Services Coordinator. This position is vital in enhancing the functionality and offerings of the library. Candidates should possess a varied skill set, including programming capabilities and experience in collection management.


Key Responsibilities:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Program Development:
Design, organize, and implement a range of activities and events for library users, such as arts and crafts, educational workshops, lectures, and cultural programs.

Develop and deliver a variety of engaging and informative programs.

Partner with local organizations, educational institutions, and businesses to broaden the outreach and effectiveness of library initiatives.

Collection Management:
Oversee and curate the designated library collections, including books, multimedia resources, and digital materials as necessary.


Conduct regular evaluations of the collections to identify opportunities for growth or enhancement, ensuring diverse perspectives are represented.

Collaborate with colleagues to create displays, marketing materials, and programs related to library resources.

Customer Service Support:
Assist patrons at service points, offering reference support, reading recommendations, and program details.


Deliver courteous and efficient service to library users at the circulation desk, including managing checkouts, issuing library cards, collecting fees, and organizing returned materials.

Knowledge and Compliance


Understand and uphold the principles outlined in the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that access to information is a core principle of public libraries; in addition to these principles, respect the discretion of clients regarding materials available at the library.

Adhere to all legal and policy requirements concerning patron confidentiality and the management of patron records.

Professional Development:
Actively seek opportunities for professional growth to enhance skills and knowledge.

Participate in workshops, conferences, webinars, and training sessions related to library management, grant writing, and operational practices.


Share insights and best practices acquired through professional development activities with colleagues to cultivate a culture of learning and innovation within the library.

Requirements

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

MLS/MLIS degree is mandatory.

Multilingual abilities are advantageous.

Experience in a library environment, demonstrating proficiency in database management, programming, and media collection development.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach to service delivery.

Proficiency in relevant software and technology platforms, including library management systems, database software, and programming tools.

Willingness to work evenings and weekends to accommodate programming schedules and library hours.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently move throughout the library

File and retrieve materials from high shelves

Lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
