Eye Care Assistant

At Rutland Regional Medical Center, we are seeking an experienced Eye Care Assistant to join our team. As a vital member of our outpatient care site, you will be responsible for clinical duties such as obtaining medical records and preparing patients for exams.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Obtaining medical records and maintaining accurate patient information
- Preparing patients for exams and beginning standard tests and measurements
- Performing preliminary eye function testing and explaining medication or procedures to patients
- Sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms and supplies
Administrative Duties:
- Assisting with administrative tasks in conjunction with patient contact
Education and Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology/Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Completion of an Ophthalmic Assistant program or other Health Science degree program desired
- 1 year experience in a physician practice or outpatient clinic setting involving patient contact preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association within 1 month of hire
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) within 18 months of hire
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to perform self-study and online training for completion of Ophthalmic Assistant program in pursuit of certification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Medical Terminology
We offer a competitive salary range of $17.46 - $25.94 per hour.
