At Rutland Regional Medical Center, we are seeking an experienced Eye Care Assistant to join our team. As a vital member of our outpatient care site, you will be responsible for clinical duties such as obtaining medical records and preparing patients for exams.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining medical records and maintaining accurate patient information
  • Preparing patients for exams and beginning standard tests and measurements
  • Performing preliminary eye function testing and explaining medication or procedures to patients
  • Sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms and supplies

Administrative Duties:

  • Assisting with administrative tasks in conjunction with patient contact

Education and Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology/Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Completion of an Ophthalmic Assistant program or other Health Science degree program desired
  • 1 year experience in a physician practice or outpatient clinic setting involving patient contact preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association within 1 month of hire
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) within 18 months of hire
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to perform self-study and online training for completion of Ophthalmic Assistant program in pursuit of certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Medical Terminology

We offer a competitive salary range of $17.46 - $25.94 per hour.
