At Rutland Regional Medical Center, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Eye Care Assistant to join our team in providing high-quality clinical support to our ophthalmic providers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient preparation for exams, conduct standard tests and measurements, and perform preliminary eye function testing under the supervision of a licensed provider.
  • Explain medication or procedures to patients, ensure proper sterilization and cleaning of equipment, and maintain examination rooms and supplies at an outpatient care site.
  • Participate in administrative duties related to patient contact, including obtaining medical records and reporting patient care observations to providers.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required; coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology/Biology, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 1 year experience in a physician practice or outpatient clinic setting involving patient contact; completion of an Ophthalmic Assistant program or other Health Science degree program is a plus.
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association within 30 days of hire and Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Strong communication skills, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
