Position Overview:
The Career Center Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service to job seekers and employers at the Center.

This position involves conducting initial assessments and orientations for job seekers, guiding them through career portal navigation, registration, online job applications, and the creation of job leads.

The Specialist provides both individual and group training, evaluates job search strategies, makes courtesy follow-up calls, supports employer recruitment events, and actively engages in community outreach initiatives while ensuring coverage across various centers.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project and Change Management:
Effectively organizes and manages personal workload to consistently fulfill routine responsibilities and special projects. Occasionally acts as a team member or subject matter expert on departmental initiatives. Engages constructively with changes impacting the role, maintaining clear communication with supervisors and pursuing necessary learning and skill development.

Problem Solving:
Operates under general supervision with regular oversight from management or senior colleagues. May collaborate with senior team members for professional growth. Utilizes skills to address routine challenges, identifies root causes, interprets data, and resolves issues effectively.

Technical Proficiency:
Possesses fundamental knowledge of professional practices and skills, adhering to established protocols.

Community Engagement:
Acts as a representative for Goodwill within the broader community. Participates in volunteer activities as time and interest allow.

  • Engage with customers, volunteers, colleagues, and supervisors in a professional manner. Welcome clients and proactively seek opportunities to assist, directing inquiries that require further information to supervisors.
  • Attract clients to the Center and contribute to community outreach and resource sharing efforts, utilizing diverse resources to achieve objectives.
  • Facilitate both group and individual training sessions using Goodwill's comprehensive curriculum, along with other tools for resume writing and interview preparation. Assist in developing resources tailored to the specific needs of clients or employers seeking services.
  • Guide clients in accessing computer systems and utilizing various software applications, including internet resources.
  • Instruct clients on the process of signing up and entering information into the system.
  • Review client progress and schedule one-on-one coaching sessions as necessary. Conduct mock interviews to prepare clients for hiring events.
  • Support the recruitment and maintenance of strong relationships with local employers to meet on-site recruitment goals.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all clients participating in programs.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of two years of college education or equivalent experience, with a minimum of one year in a related role.
  • A valid driver's license and proof of insurance are required, along with reliable transportation.
  • Preferred experience in fields such as human resources, business management, training, or counseling.
