Job Title: Employment Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Employment Specialist to join our team at the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin. As an Employment Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities achieve their employment goals.

Job Summary:

The Employment Specialist will be responsible for building relationships with employers and other agencies to develop jobs for consumers and help consumers retain these jobs. This will involve providing pre-vocational services, such as developing career profiles, and onsite job coaching for a small caseload of consumers. The job development and job coaching for this role will be based in Milwaukee & Waukesha County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Job Development: Build relationships with local community agencies/schools to build on employment services, act as a community liaison for DSAW's DVR line of business, and assist the Employment Services Manager with the implementation of new projects.
  • Client Coordination: Work with DVR counselors to implement the DVR employment plan, complete initial consults, intakes, and career profiles for new DVR consumers, and manage wait lists.
  • Job Coaching: Consistently model appropriate work maturity skills, monitor consumer work performance, and provide feedback and prompts when needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with consumers utilizing DVR.
  • Valid driver's license and insured vehicle.
  • Ability to pass a background check that meets State of Wisconsin requirements.
